Hang on a minute Dan....I’ve got a great idea ! How about YOU CALL BELL because I still really am not curious enough to make a call to Bell to find out something that is not relevant to me in any way ! Sound like a plan ?

Cheers my friend, Darren.

Honestly more than I can tell you Dan. I would need a bill for a land line to know, but being single ( bachelor ) I only need a cell phone. I’d say that charge has been dropped by now, as the CRTC would in all likelihood make them remove charges for touch-tone lines. But I’m sure someone could easily scratch up a bill and have a look. I really am not curious enough to make a call to Bell to find out something that is not relavent to me in any way. Cheers my friend! Darren.

The modem commands worked well when my wife was taking a programming course that required her to log in to the college's computer to do assignments. The instructor informed the class that if they had rotary phone service, they'd have to switch to tone in order to log in. But it was easy to overcome using the ATDT and ATDP switches at the right time.
We always found it curious that Bell Canada charged a premium for tone service, a charge I think they still apply even though it must surely cost more to support pulse dialing.

Quote” I blame a windows upgrade that has hidden gremlins to subvert Googles Chrome in favour of Microsoft’s Explorer or the other one I’d never use “

Is the other one Safari ? That is what I normally use, but I have also tried using Chrome with zero success.

Quote” That’s how to use command a modem to dial-pulse, aka rotary phone line to call a tone controlled switchboard and get the modem to send tones to select menu item 2 then 4. “

As an electronics technician who works ( on permanent LTD Now with my back issues ) for Bell still technically, I worked at maintaining rotary dial exchanges, rotary dial exchanges with touch tone converters installed, and a form of pulse switching called crossbar, that was all the new rage in the 1960’s. After that I went on course to learn how digital multiplex switching works ( current to this day ). But when I studied electronics in the early to mid 80’s, first year students learned basic electrical circuitry , being a/c , d/c theory as well as inductance, capacitance and amplification. The second year students selected wether they wished to study electronics telephony ( long distance communications ) or computer technology. I selected telephony, and it was a wise choice as I landed a job with Bell communications, one of the better jobs in the industry at the time. Nowadays communications and computers are one entity. It just shows how rapidly the industry changes ( constantly ). However, being away from my field for 10 years ( limited mobility and constant pain management via 4 crushed vertebrae from two seperate accidents/incidents ) I have fallen behind on my computer skills ( although I am catching up just to stay amused and informed ) and I can’t figure out how to get the “quote” function to work. Maybe tomorrow ?

Cheers, were all in this together ( Red Green from the 90’s ) Darren. PS- at least it makes troubleshooting car electrics quite easy :-)

Funny, it works just fine with Firefox, Windows 10 laptop or cheapie tablet running Windows 8.
(I can even open a 'quote window', highlight the whole quote, hit 'control+C' to copy it to the clipboard, then close the quote window and open another one and paste in the first quote.)

I blame a Windows upgrade that has hidden gremlins to subvert Google's Chrome in favour of Microsoft's Explorer or the other one I'd never use.

I'm no expert, but have been putzing with personal computers since DOS 1.25H or DOS 1.0. That's before mice, Windows and the internet. I still remember some of the tricks. Remember 300 baud dial-up modems? ("ATDT 555-1212 ADTP 2 4" That's how to use command a modem to dial pulse, AKA rotary phone line to call a tone-controlled switchboard and get the modem to send tones to select menu item 2 then 4.

I have never had a single success with quoting, and I have attempted to use it at least about 6 times. I’ve tried while using Safari, and I’ve tried while using Chrome. Still no success either way.

This is on chrome. Then again you can press View, Source Code and get right technical with what specifically you want quoted.

...and no quote happening??

Just add a div class="msgQuoteX" where X is the number of quotes in your post. end your div. start a new div class="msgQuoteBox" (this adds the css for the grey box) start a new div class="msgQuotedBy" if you want. end your div and finally start a new div class="msgQuoteBody" and write what you want to quote. End 2 divs. (follow the rules of html code)

Thanks very much for the offer, but I have already booked rooms in Montreal’s old downtown for 2 nights. Yes, Benoit said he had the new bmw Style sunroof for it. He said he got cold feet when he started down the new sunroof path and left the old one as is. I’m not sure if I will change it out either, my plan is to enjoy his car for a full year before undertaking further mods.

Basically the pictures linked are what it what it looks like now. He took a recent video of it and sent it to me, but he literally hasn’t moved it in 4 months. Battery was stone dead. Gotta love Canadian winters.

The sunroof he was talking about is the new electric roof from a BMW it actually fits in a Mini...
Benoit's first language is French so there are some language errors in the ad.
Kevin, When you come to see the car in Montreal get in touch with us and we'll put you up for the night..

I just took a look at the link you provided Kevin. I can see why you have fallen for this beauty. The only thing I don’t understand is that the writer ( you ? ) says he’s unsure of adding a sunroof, but this car already has one. Is the picture a generic of what you bought ( a v-tech converted classic Mini ) or the actual car, with the pictures added after the typing was completed ? I hope you can make sense of this post. Darren.
