Question:
I’m restoring a 998cc Mini engine from a 1998 car. The engine number is 99HE20 110873 and I need a new set of ‘Standard’ Main Bearings. Note that the locating tabs on my existing bearings/block are on the ends of the shells (not in the middle). I've Mic'd up the crank and it's within original tolerance so just want to replace the old standard bearings with new. I’ve looked around at all the UK supplier's websites but can’t seem to find a set that suits (everything that is showing as ‘1984 onwards’ has the tabs in the middle of the shells). Can you help? Could this possibly not be the original engine?
