Even with a freshly rebuilt motor, oil pressure problems can still occur if your pressure relief valve is not working. Most people remember to check and change the pressure valve in the block but problems still occur if the 'seat' for the valve is worn! As you would not do a valve job without checking the seats, so too you should check the oil pressure valve and seat! The steel seat is pressed into the block and can easily be done by any good machine shop. A good practice would be to have the seat replaced any time you have the block at the machine shop.
