Thanks for the notification. The one posted for sale by Virginia mopar is the later mk3 type with the two column stalks.
I do see some other bits that I need in the photos, will send an email.
Thanks

RR , I like your idea, you can even make an integrated pod for the Smiths Rev Counter.. I only thought of the 3D printing is because my library bought a printer. Patrons can use it.

3D printing would add the cool factor, but making one by hand sculpting a foam buck and then wrapping it with fiberglass or polyester or carbon fiber would be just as effective.

That's exactly what I've thinking, but I just can't rationalize spending enough money for a good 3D scanner. That and how to section the cowl halves to fit my printer bed...

That part would be a perfect candidate for 3 D printing.

I have the same style column in my '72 Mini and I have some bad news for you. That column was only used for a very short time and parts are limited. The only new parts I've found are the upper and lower bushes for the steering shaft. The shroud parts are polyunobtainabide. Maybe someone has all of the known examples stashed in their garage waiting for the prices to go up so they can sell them and retire, but I doubt it. It sounds terrible, but I'd find a slightly later column to use if you really have to have a shroud around all the nasty bits that'll snag your shirt sleeve and look crappy.

Just my 2p. Others will most likely have a different opinion.

Hi guys,
I haven't been around the forum for some time but am still busy with Minis. Hopefully some of you remember me.

I am hoping that someone may be able to help with sourcing a part for my mini.

I have been piecing together a 1971 Canadian Mini and it has some interesting early production parts on it.

What I need help with sourcing is the steering column cowling cover.
This is the type where the ignition key is 90 degrees to the column and it uses only one signal stalk unlike the later MK3 with two signal stalks.

I believe the part number for the cowl is 18G8799

Just for reference, here is what the RHD vesion looks like, I put arrows showing the location for where the hole would be for a LHD version.

If you have one or part of one, or know of someone who does, please let me know.
Darren
