Wheel socks? What the fah. . . . ? Never heard tell of them.
I drive my BINI through pretty much anything with 4 studded winter tires.....every (harsh!) winter.
More than you're apt to see in WA state (or Wash/DC....I am not sure which WA you're in)
Save the socks for your feet.

~ 30 minutes in a Mini is more therapeutic than 3 sessions @ the shrink. ~

They are good for emergency use. Easier to put on than chains and take up less space in the car. Will wear out fast if you use them on bare road or above 30 mph. If you are actually planning to drive in the snow, get snow tires. Colorado recognizes them as a traction device. I just bought a set to comply with CO law on a car I'm driving from California to Denver tomorrow - though I fully intend to avoid snow since I'm not certain they will fit due to the low clearance on the Mini I will be driving (not stock)

If you live in 'snow country', you might consider an extra set of wheels with snow tires. MINI does well in the snow with snow tires unless it gets too deep (low ground clearance).
Also, cable chains requires less clearance than the standard 'chains'.
Sorry, no experience with tire 'socks'.

Hi,
I may drive my Mini, which is a 2019 JCW this winter more than last winter which was almost not at all.
I'm told tire chains or cables will fit on a car like this one due to clearances.
I've heard some talk of Wheel Socks.
Anyone try those? If so are they any good or a gimmick?
Anyone know if they are recognized in the US as a traction device when those are required?
