I know of what you speak about hanging around until the end of the car show. There is a local show near Pittsburgh sponsored by the Pittsburgh Jaguar club at an historic property, which is now a county park. Most attend as it is a nice atmosphere for a Sunday afternoon picnic. That's the main reason I attend, for the friendship and to check out all the cars. I'll usually alternate between my Mini pickup and my MGA. A few years ago I was showing the MGA. The judging is popular vote of the attendees. Well, they went through the MGA class and I didn't win anything. That's OK as I didn't have the best MGA on the field. As the class winner announcements continued on, I was talking to the owners of a very nice Morgan and wasn't paying much attention to the PA system. Then I was a bit startled to hear my name called. Seems I had won Best in Show. I was flabbergasted! Not only was my MGA not the best of the MGAs shown, but there were a lot of better cars nicer (and more correct) than my MGA. I guess that's the way it can go with a popular vote show. I certainly didn't turn down the plaque...

#Rosebud, I enjoyed reading your take on the car show circuit. We all attend these shows for many reasons. I haven't been to any show since the pandemic started, that's my choice. I do look forward to getting back to the shows once I am personally comfortable. With that said, I stopped seeking trophies a long time ago. While winning is fun, it's not IMHO what it's all about. Just hanging out with like minded people and enjoying each others taste in cars just means so much more to me now. Building friendships with people you might just walk right past in public is kind of fun and a bit weird? It's all about the cars man. I hope you collect all the wins you deserve, and remember those others at those same shows are just as hungry for those rewards too. The moral of this rant, have fun with your car, the trophies will come when you least expect it.

It's been a busy time for 'Rosebud' and me. Here's an article about our experience on the car show circuit this month.
