If the plunger part turned while it was loose it might not be right way up. The beveled/funnel shape part should be up for the arm to fit into.

In the process of reassembling my 74 - 76 Mini 1000, I had to remove the clutch arm because it was in the way. Now I'm done with what I was doing and I am trying to re-install the clutch arm. It won't go in all the way. I can get the end with the round ball to engage the hole in the plunger but it won't go in deep enough to allow the clevis pin to be installed. I can see the arm needs to go a little deeper for the holes to line up but nothing I do can get it to go lower.
Anybody have any insights on what I may be doing wrong?
