Yes, the MINI automatic transmission uses a torque converter.
Replace any oil seals or gaskets that shows signs of seepage or leaks.
We recommend replacing the thermostat housing if it hasn't already been replaced.
Check condition of all coolant hoses and vacuum lines - replace any that shows 'cracks' from age.
Replace serpentine belt if it has never been replaced.

I'm getting ready to purchase a used transmission to replace my broken transmission. As I embark on this what should I replace while I'm doing this? I'm already going to replace the oil gaskets since the front of the car will be off. Is there a torque converter in these? I'll replace the filter and gasket along with fluids. But I'm looking for advice on anything else I need to get in order to make this a successful swap.
