When you say mini tech rear suspension, what exactly do you have? Do you mean a rear beam coil-over suspension sold by Mini Tec? And since you say wheel to wheel cable, I assume you have a '76 or newer car with the single handbrake cable (Oh, I see it's a 99). The springs should be part of the cable. If they aren't there, you probably need to get a new cable. If it's frayed, you definitely need a new one. They are cheap. handbrake cable

Have converted mini with mini tech rear suspension and disc brakes. Wheel to wheel cable is frayed at equalizer brkt. Builder said they used the oem cable but in car cable has no springs as does the replacement. are the springs needed? and do i remove? thanks Bob.
