www.realoem.com is a resource I use all the time. It lists most of the parts on the MINI.
Perhaps a body shop that straightens frames may have access to frame dimensions and probably torque specs.
Bentley manual is a good source for most of the wiring schematics.
Keep us updated!

does anyone have links to build specs or detailed information on frame and build dimensions? Torque specs?
part numbers, specifications, wiring diagrams, and detailed cad drawings must be available somewhere.
Is this something i should ask about at my local mini dealership with certified bmw technicians? i know ugga dugga isn't a proper term for main caps.
Most of the subframes on these cars should be interchangeable. LH-RH drive conversion should be straightforward as well with the shell being designed for dual markets.
is there a mini racing forum for guys who thrash them and have had to piece 2-3 together?
I'm expecting 2 months or so of full time wrenching, but knowing what kit to bring for tools would be helpful.
i just dont want to have both cars blown apart in my garage only to find out the subframe mounting locations changed mid-year and i need to engineer a bracket that could have been foreseen with a little research.

I am sure that transplanting a front clip from a R55 JCW (including mechanical and electronics) onto your R55 Cooper is 'technically possible' but it sure sounds like a lot of work.... If you have a ton of time, resources to make this happen, and want a challenging project, it might be fun to do.
However, my typical recommendation for the average Cooper owner looking for performance upgrades is to consider trading up to a Cooper S.
Not aware of anyone that has done this, but you can also check the forums northamericanmotoring.com.

I've recently developed the timing tick of doom I believe mine is an r55 clubman non S auto.
Instead of just fixing the timing chain or or rebuilding the motor, I want to upgrade.
If I locate a running r56 S with JCW preferably salvaged with rear damage, could I just swap subframes and all?
Would it be a bolt up swap, or am I stuck with the odd duck MINI that is not heavily supported in the aftermarket?
I have a fairly decent mechanical ability, shop, and fab tools to do the job myself.
Just want to know if it's been done or thought about before.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
