“Dumpit” you have a point  I bought a ‘04 JCW gang banger version with the exhaust note to emphasize that and I’m just getting it up to snuff (Brake & light insp.)and then there goes the MI L  And Blue Driver OBDII hookss me up to Amazon, and a $55 fuel pump/filter in tank system which is really convoluted like the exhaust system in the back but that’s OK I’ll put another $55 in it since I paid only 1100 incl. tax . Not a brag about Blue Driver but on the Mercedes that I bought for an even 1000 out the door (e.g. $904 and some change sales price), had a check engine light that’s the Blue Driver analyze to be the right side O2 sensors upper or lower I’m not sure but I bought both and the problem is gone hooray blue driver! (If they’re conspiring with Amazon, that’s OK because those two 02 sensors Cost me less than 50 bucks and for the trouble of getting under the car it solve the problem completely!)

Dump it before you have problems like the other three guys who have listed problems on the first half of page 1 on this sight. Yes people who have the bmw love them until they have a problem, then good luck.

Thanks all for the help!

Got a second quote, looking at closer to $1,2k - $1,5k to fix somewhere else! Second mechanic said only the front half of the struts/shocks/links need replacement. I guess the other guy was quoting me the most expensive parts he could find.

I wasn't doing any rallycross, but apparently I drive her hard... lol

A 2012 with 78k doesn't sound like an excessive amount of age or mileage...  It also sounds unusual that all shocks, strut mounts, and link need replacing...  unless you've been doing some rallycross...

Have you considered getting a second opinion? What prompted you to get an estimate in the first place?

To me, it wouldn't be the cost of the suspension repairs (which doesn't seem too bad a price), but the cost and life expectancy of the rest of the car. Cooling system repairs don't seem too out of place either, but I'd be listing all the other impending or current problems with the car and sizing up their expected deed for attention. It is the sum of what else is likely to need fixing that would decide for me if it was worth doing the suspension.

.

Suspension in bad shape on my 2012 mini cooper s with 78km. All 4 struts, upper strut mounts, and front links need to be replaced. Mechanic estimating over 2k to fix everything.  Is it worth fixing? Will I get another 2+ years out of this car? I have already had problems with the heating and cooling system - leaking coolant, thermostat replaced, radiator fixed.
