Check the other Catalina Moke thread look at Dr Mini's post.

In the early 1990s all the Catalina Island Mokes from the rental fleet were brought to the mainland by Larry Hollaway. Tom Schramm from MN bought 20 of them from Larry and Larry took the rest to NJ where over the years he either sold them as projects, or restored and sold them as restored cars. About 3 years ago one of the Moke companies in the UK bought out Larry’s remaining stock of Mokes, which at that time may have been about 13 cars or parts of cars, and shipped them back to the UK. I met Tom Schramm at a show in VA about 2 years ago and I’ve forgotten if he said he’d gotten rid of his stash in MN.

Regarding the color, it’s hard to identify the cars by color in that the rental company repainted each car every few years, so it’s not unusual when doing a restoration to find various layers of pink, blue, white, yellow, etc...on one car.

Pbraun,

Many folks got Mokes from Larry over the years. Our Catalina Moke was one of his, but I believe that M-Parts got the reminder of his Mokes which when I last visited was about 12 and a half cars.

Ok, ok. Fine, be that way.

But come on: It's baby blue, it is an actual catalina island rental fleet moke, and it has the license plate that begins with WXR 2_ _

I'd say that's pretty solid sleuthing for a couple minutes work, and with results that provide you a solid lead within an hour of you posting!

I would hold Spank's link as a more of an FYI =  Hoard of Catalina Mokes went there.
This was 2015 when surfaced on the internet..

There are plenty of other mokes piled up + and in bad condition that dont have a plate on them. One Could be your beloved  WXR 276

What color was WXR276?  Baby Blue?  White?  something different?

Someone else probably has better history but the Catalina Mokes were piled up + shipped off island way back = I think the whole fleet was split between 2 basic buyers... One hunk went to this barn  and another hunk i think went to NJ... Im a late to the party bystander here== someone has more details.

I know another hunk were purchsed buy a buyer in the UK and they went back to the Motherland.   Mostly as 'for rebuild' parts and pieces because their condition was worse from being left outside.

Anyone know of any upates from this GOLD mine from 2015?  All the collection in the barns?

I am trying to locate a Mini Moke that was a rental car on Catalina Island back in the 1960's and 1970's. My family rented the moke several times. The license plate is  WXR 276 and the rental car was number 47. It was a pale blue color. I have a lot of fond memories of the that Moke.
I know there was a man who bought a lot of the Mokes and stored them in a barn years back.
Thanks
