Hello Gang,
Can anyone recommend a good plug for my geography? I will be running a 1275CC with a 3 pipe exhaust and dual SU Carbs.....IN FLORIDA !
And it's bloody hot down here with temps in the 90's all the time. Also, I am running an extra electric fan to draw hot air out of the engine bay. (while at slow speeds and idle).
Any ideas for keeping me cool?
Thanks in Advance.
A = I have the latter.....2 inti 1
I will assume you have the twin HS2 setup. What year (A or A+)
A= Yes, Dual SU
Any Ideas for keeping you cool - go swimming
A = I jump into the pool daily, My mini can't swim.
As for the car make sure it is in tune, When was the last time points were changed? air filter? carbs cleaned/rebuilt? tappet clearance checked? decoked? radiator flushed? timing checked?
A= Everything is either new, rebuilt, or spotless.
What thermostat are you using? there is one for summer, one for winter as well as the one for more normal temps 165/180/195 ranges - there is also a blanking plate normally used in racing.
A = Good idea, I will have to check, Which one would be better?
What fan are you using they go from a 2 bladed 4 bladed 11 bladed (plastic and is clearly marked which way it goes on) 16 bladed metal, and finally a 6 bladed tropical fan.
A= A new 11 blade plastic. Plus an extra 12Volt , 10" electric fan inside the fender wall that I can switch on a low speeds and idle.
You will also find that there are at least 4 different water pump pulleys.
A= Stock pulley
Then there's the radiator 4 core. super 2 core, or an aluminum one.
A= Super 2 core new from Mini Mania
Then there's an oil cooler, auxiliary radiator, and water wetter,
A= 13 row oil cooler
If you need more info - email in profile , Thanks. I will check my thermostat, which one should I go with?

Tried 7's and 8's for the hotter Georgia weather and 6's just work better in my 1293 (Swiftune mods and electro distro ).

The NGK website says that the standard BP6ES plug is now obsolete and replaced by the resistor plug equivalent, BPR6ES. I see that Amazon still has the BP6ES for absolutely ridiculous prices. If you use the BPR6ES resistor plug you will ideally want to use them with solid core (not resistor) plug wires.
For years the common plug was Champion N9Y. Then there was the copper core version of the same, N9YC. Both are still available. As with the NGK plugs there is a resistor version for Champion... RN9YC.
The last regular NGK plugs I bought came from eBay as NOS. You may still find some there. All the resistor plugs and the standard Champions are available with VERY good pricing through Rock Auto. Remember none of these plugs will arrive with the necessary gap. Be sure to re-gap them before installation.
