We don't have any definitive solutions for fixing 2771 and 2781 errors, but some have cleaned the Vanos Solenoid to cure misfire problems in the Cooper - which has two of these on the cylinder head.

What are the error codes you are seeing?

Here are some generic misfire potential problem areas:

Defect in mixture formation
Defect in ignition system
Mechanical defect
Defective DME

  • compression test was similar on all four cyl.
  • data stream reads pretty constant misfire, gradually decreasing as rpm goes up, stops showing misfire over 2500 rpm.
  • any ideas?
