Browser .... you my friend, have nothing to apologize for in regards to posting about that very cool Speedwell Sprite in lieu of a Mini. Please post more photos of it when you get a chance and tell us about it.

Not me but the high bidder on BaT did say he was going to try and make a deal.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Give a car more power and it goes faster on the straights,
make a car lighter and it's faster everywhere. Colin Chapman.

not for commercial carriers if exempt

And as the plot thickens, they used Billy Bobs TWIC Card and SCAC  Freight Carrier Card .????

Not me either, so who ??

Malcolm, you got an alibi LOL ?

I just wonder if it wasn’t that yellow OZ moke that didn’t meet reserve last week on B A T ?

On this subject, Just had a blurb from Billy Bob in NC that an Austin Mini was seized by US Customs in Detroit, trying to get it into the USA from Canada as “parts” in an enclosed trailer, have no other details

If this car had no title, no paperwork, no vin #, it would have been possible if declared as parts and pay a $70.00 fee plus duty on parts

As a rule a mini without an engine and vin # could qualify as a parts car only

The best one l ever had was years ago, lpulled into Port Huron Michigan Customs with a junker in my truck box and twe 3 wheelers on my trailer, US Customs were plugged up, literally no parking and me in the middle of the mess trying to park, A senior Customs supervisor walked over to me, looked at my load, threw up his hands  andtold me to get this load of S***e out of here,no probs, keep on trucking !

Willie,
I have a couple of questions regarding importing. Would you mind contacting me (email on profile)?
cheers,

I see posts fairly often here asking for advice on importing cars from Europe so I wanted to share my experience here as a first time importer.

Sorry not a Mini but a Speedwell Sprite that I hope to use as a track day car and multi day rallies.

Importing a car was a bigger challenge than I had originally thought. Inspection, payment to many different people, transport to the port, shipping via boat, receiving it and getting it off the port, getting it home, and then registering it.

I am still working on the registering part but I have all the paperwork needed.

All that said.....Hire someone that does this all the time!

WARNING CONTROVERSIAL INFORMATION AHEAD

I used Bill Cox! The knowledge he had on importing cars and the connections he has is amazing. He has forgotten more about importing and titling cars than most will ever know. Love or dislike him he knows what he is doing and does it well. My experience could have been challenging especially with the lock downs but everything went smoothly and the car arrived in one piece and I have all the paperwork I need to register it.

There are other people that import cars but if you are importing something call Bill. He answered all of my stupid questions when I thought I was going to manage it myself. I ended up using him as a turn key door to door.

Good Luck with your imports. There are some great deals out there now!

Pic of Bill with one of his skunks...yes he is part of skunk rescue.. and the car.
