That is an option on his website. He offers to sell the plans for the right price.

This is one of those products that should continue... shame that they are no longer made. Someone really should contact them and get a hold of the plans and restart production.

Yes - we've got a pile of most types except the Elf/Hornet.

Fortunately the version 2.5 model doesn't have the gas struts. I thought about getting myself a set of the version 3.0's, but I really like mine now. And you can't run a carbon bonnet with the gas struts.

The struts were the problem on the Clubbie. The mounting position had them pushing almost straight up when the bonnet was in a closed position. This popped the back of the bonnet up quite a bit and made it impossible to adjust. Repositioning the lower brackets so the struts were almost horizontal cured the problem. I have no idea what the results might be with a round-nose. Access to the engine compartment with it raised all the way, is pretty much the same as if you removed the bonnet.

Thanks for posting pictures of the install.

Did you not need the struts?

I've had a few people as me about how I mounted the brackets so I figured I would give you guys my process.

Please note that the brackets on my hood were a bit wonky, so I mounted my vravkets about 2mm from the scuttle drip rail.

Here's how I mounted my brackets.

1) With factory brackets installed, I held the minivation hinges against the wing and placed them in nearly the same "closed" position as the factory hinges.

2) Knowing my hood needed to be moved further back, I moved the hinges a little further back. Articulating the hibolt by hand, I moved them as far back as they would go without hitting the scuttle drip rail.

3) With the hinges in the position I wanted them laterally, I pressed them all the way to the top of the fender drip rail to place them at maximum height

4) With the hinges placed where I wanted them, I marked the my drilling locations in the very bottom of the top slitted holes to allow for vertical adjustment downward if needed.

5) I drilled bolt holes in the wing for the bolts to go through and secured them at the highest position.

6) I mounted the hood and fiddled with the position of the hood on the brackets front to back until I got my gaps correct.

7) Closing the hood, I could see that the height was dead on.

8) I tightened the brackets down and driled through the lower bracket holes. Attached with M5 bolts/nylock nuts and small washers and tightened everything down.

Hood fits quite well.

Which type of bulkhead bracket do you have ?
The single-hole early Clubman or the later 3-hole version ?

If you don't fit the Clubman hinge on the top front hole of the 3-hole bracket you will have this problem.

I spent most of a day messing about with the hinges, experimenting with positioning and permutations, and Ben was with me till the wee small hours developing the Clubman V2.0 gas strut arrangement.

Finally snapped some photos of the new hinged installed. Really happy with the hinges.

I installed the V3.0 hinges on my '72 NZ Mk3 and found that I had to mount them using the "Clubman" holes rather than the "Saloon" holes.  I guess there are a few cars out there that used Clubman hinge brackets instead of round nose brackets south of the equator.  They work fine for me except that I had to cut out the bonnet crossmember to clear the twinky head on my engine and it now wants to fold like a cheap piece of paper when the gas struts are installed.  I have to come up with some bracing that will clear the engine and return at least a little bit of rigiditiy to the bonnet.

It does look great with the bonnet up at a full salute and working in the engine bay is vastly easier!

Had several long conversations with Minivation today, and they are popping round later on to have a play with the set on Tubbs.

It seems that some Clubmans have three holes in the bulkhead bracket, and you need to select the correct one to get the bonnet to fit right.
If you use the top back one, like with the standard hinges, the back of the bonnet doesn't fit in the cutout and you run out of adjustment in the bonnet slots.
If you move from the standard hinge position and use the front top hole then it all works very smoothly.
The gas struts seems to be pushing the back up a tad at the moment, but that is solveable too.
